I have always been really good at rapid change in the workplace. It is probably key amongst the reasons why I have survived on my job beyond all estimations of longevity.
Change in my personal life is another story. I hold onto things way beyond their ROI. I still have my first iMac. It is soooo old, but it still works. I still have clothes from the 70s that still fit.
Here’s how it goes. When things stop working, I will try and try and try to patch things up. The change that is intuitive at work eludes me. Yet, there comes a point when I bottom out with trying, and move on. I discard a useless item.
I am at that point now. I am not holding onto something that can’t be held. Sure, it has claw marks on it, from trying to hang in there. But…goodbye.
